Cebu - My Paradise in the Philippines
Cebu - My Paradise in the Philippines
By Roy Sencio
There is that saying that goes, “home is where the heart is”; and that is absolutely true about my old hometown, my Philippine paradise.
There is actually much to say about Cebu that I am at a loss for words, not knowing where to start, at the same time wondering if whatever I write might sound a little too biased, considering.
But let me give you my 2 cents why I believe Cebu to be, Paradise Philippines!
First of all Cebu is known to have the best of both worlds, in so many aspects that it seems duality is a trait that it shall forever possess.
Cebu is the connection between the old world and the new world. A rich history that dates back to the 1500’s with Magellan’s discovery of the Philippines, followed by the first ever Roman Catholic mass in the whole of Asia, the planting of Magellan’s cross at the site of that first mass, and his inevitable fate at the hands of Lapu-lapu; the unrelenting chieftain of neighboring Mactan who refused to submit to the Cross and Spain.
Today Cebu is one of the world’s IT hubs, the center of the growing outsourcing industry in the Philippines and the home of several IT service companies, both local and foreign owned.
If you have stayed in Cebu even briefly, you will notice that everything seems to be just 15 - 30 minutes away. The malls… for your shopping, 15-30 minutes away. The beaches… for your tan, 15-30 minutes away. Mountain resorts and upland retreats for a retreat from the urban jungle, 15-30 minutes away. It is metropolitan living with provincial reprieve, on demand and when you want it.

Cebu… my home… my paradise in the Philippines.
